Seth and His Medical Update

For those of you who do not know, Seth had to have his appendix taken out today. Everything went well and they were able to do it by laparoscopy and so he has 3 small incisions. He was quite the trooper and made it to his Middle School Graduation later on in the evening. Pretty amazing huh. Good Luck with a continued speedy recovery Seth. The above is a picture of Seth letting Hannah do her thing. Where does she get that from? By the way does anyone else think that Seth looks like Ryan on The Office?

Saturday at the Cemetary

So I decided to go to Castle Dale for the long weekend. I had missed coming down last year so I wanted to be here to put flowers on the graves and also work on a little project with the help of Lizzy's new Pfaff. The project will be posted at a later date. But here is our morning at the cemetary.

Because Memorial Day was early this year and because it has been chilly we thought it would be slim pickins for flowers at Lizzy's and Grandpa's house. But we ended up finding quite a bunch of flowers to take up. Lizzy's snowball bush was blooming, Mr. Herrings lilac hedge was in bloom and so we snuck quite a bunch from him and we found two irises from the front of Grandpa's house. By the end of the flower search we had a big bucket full of flowers. I had ordered some flowers a few days ago and we went to Huntington this morning to pick those up and take with us. Liz, Dennis, Jenny, Tenny and Banner and I made the visit to the graves this year.

Yes, they are still here. I can't believe they have not gotten lost. I was thinking about these little cars the other day and low and behold here they are. Too bad we didn't have any kids with us. Usually someone likes to play with them for a little bit.

I was very happy to see a flag on Dad's grave.

We did get some flowers on Grandma and Grandpa Jorgensen's grave too but you can't see them in this picture. We put lilacs and Lizzy bought a miniature rose for this grave and Aunt Carol's

Back 8 or 9 years ago when it was the sesquecentennial of the pioneers the Church came out with these little plaques to put on the graves of those pioneers who came across the plains prior to the railroad. Dad and I got this plaque and put on John S. and Lena Winkler's grave. I also talked to Dad about putting one on Nana's grave in Salt Lake. He said he thought we should and so I bought one and took it to the cemetary and placed it on her grave. I am not sure if she came before the railroad but she certainly came under difficult circumstances. Everytime I go see her grave I look for the little plaque. I hope to be able to go visit the Salt Lake graves when I get home.


I know that some people think that Memorial Weekend is just a time to head out of town or have BBQ's or the start of the summer or just a time to have a 3 day weekend and it is all of those things, but I will always be thankful that Dad taught me what Memorial Day should really be about. I remember being very young and going up to the cemetary with whatever flowers we had and putting them on the graves of the family and just spending a little time up there. And I remember doing it year after year. Thanks Dad for teaching us so much about doing the right things and showing respect and love for our family members on the other side.

An Evening on Temple Square

A few months back the Beehives and I planned a very fun activity that we have been waiting and waiting to do. We went down to Temple Square and they each brought their camera and we took photos of all the beautiful flowers and surroundings. I love this picture of the temple. I wish I had not cut Moroni out of it though.
We ate at the Lion House Pantry. It was of course very fun. We had to save up for a few months in order to have the budget to go. We had delicious food and everyone enjoyed just being together. I had 5 girls that came and 2 of us leaders.
Forget-Me-Nots. I wanted some for myself. They are so beautiful.
It was a beautifu overcast evening. The weather was perfect too. I think we got good photos from it being just a little gray in the sky.

It was like being in the Garden of Eden, not that I have been there. It was beautiful, tranquil, and I loved every minute of that evening. The girls were so fun and I ended up taking portraits of each of them that I think we will make homemade frames to put them in.

Getting Really Excited!

So I got all the tickets ordered and paid for. I booked all the rooms and now we just have to wait for June 30th to roll around. I thought this might be the easiest way to let everybody know their totals. I put them on my credit card and it will be nice to just pay it off when the bill comes. I will just put everyone's totals down and then you can mail me a check or just give me a check when you see me next. The tickets for Fiddler on the Roof are $30.00 each. We got a $4.00 discount on each ticket for our large group and for booking Tuesday. The tickets for Sound of Music are $18.00 for children and $24.00 for adults. I got the children's tickets for Banner, Hannah, Jonas, and Gabriel.

Remembering Mom

I remember this day. This was my departure day to England. It was a much easier day than when I went to the MTC. Looking at Mom's glasses it reminds me of all the glasses she went through. Remember the playboy bunny glasses that she got a little embarrased about.

Priceless! Always the robe. Can't you just hear her shuffling around the house in the slippers too.

I have so many memories of when I was little and being with Mom. I remember being at home with her before I started school and sitting down to lunch with her eating cheesers and listening to Paul Harvey.
It was always fun to sit down and watch a movie with Mom. Whether it was funny or sad or just really good I loved watching movies with her, especially if she got to laughing. Caddyshack comes to mind. I loved watching Christmas movies with her. We would put on a movie and make the Christmas treats while we watched it from the kitchen. I would give anything to be able to have that experience again. Boy, what I took for granted.
I don't remember doing a lot of outside chores with Mom but I remember doing inside house work with her. I smell ammonia and think of Mom and scrubbing walls and scrubbing the couches in the front room. I guess all that scrubbing was necessary with the coal furnace. I am thankful that Mom taught me how to work. I even find myself getting distracted and moving on to other jobs like she did. I haven't taken up reading while vacuuming yet. I hope not to.
I was thinking about Mom and remembered the club that she belonged to. I loved when she had club at our house and she would let Josh and I help with passing out napkins. We thought it was great. I did anyway. I remember when she would go to club to other peoples house I would wait up for her to get home. She would usually bring a little leftover treat home. I loved that too.
I remember when I went to Hawaii when I was 16. We got home late on a Friday night. She came into my room and whispered in my ear "I love you" I didn't really wake up and respond. I just remember having this wonderful feeling of love. Mom had missed me while I had been away and it felt good to hear those words. I have always remembered that experience. I also remember that those are the last words that she ever spoke to me on the earth. I was sitting on the bed and it seemed like someone else was there too. She looked at me and said "I love you" I didn't really know if she knew that it was me. I think she just knew that one of her girls was there beside her and she said it to all us even though I was the one there. Was there ever any doubt that Mom loved her children. There are so many memories it is hard to recall even a handful. I am so blessed to have had Mom as mine. I sure miss her and love her so much.

They Are Down!

Before

So I thought that the time had come to make a change. Boy what a change it has turned out to be.

Doug's Tree Service spent a few days at my house. I crew of 6 men came and took the trees down in my backyard. It was a 2 day event. The first day Tuesday was beautiful weather.

They took the 2 west trees out and started on the third. Apparently they just used ropes to get up the trees on that day. Today I was getting ready for work and saw a truck with a cherry picker pull up in the backyard, actually in the neighbors yard. They started the work on the very large tree with the cherry picker I guess. I feel bad about not being able to see how they did the whole project. I am sure that it would have been very interesting to see. It rained for a good part of the day and so the back yard is just a big mud pit. I guess it's as good a time as ever to put in some grass seed.

These logs are from the very large tree. The dump truck gets to stay in my yard tonight and they are coming back for it tomorrow morning. LUCKY!
When I got home from work today they had the wood chipper going and the little Bobcat loading logs into another truck. I had to park a few houses down until the excitement ended.


I am looking forward to a nice backyard that I want to spend time in. I need to work on the sprinklers hopefully with the help of Josh and get some grass seed in hopefully with the help of Andrew. I guess this is my big project for the summer. Does anyone want to come for a visit and help me with ideas.
